Rapper Ice Cube discussed the alleged financial connection between the rap music industry and private prisons on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast.

Ice Cube, also known as O’Shea Jackson, was a member of N.W.A, a group that pioneered the “gangsta rap” genre in 1988 with songs like “F— Tha Police.” He has gained attention in recent years for challenging left-wing beliefs and collaborating with former President Trump.

During their conversation, Maher and Ice Cube discussed the excessive focus on woke ideology in everyday conversations. Maher pointed out a “Mean Girls” mentality where people criticize others for not using updated racial terms, even when those groups don’t use the terms themselves.

“It’s strange how the names keep changing every 20 or 30 years. Someone always wants to put a new label on the same thing,” said Ice Cube. He suggested that these petty debates are designed to divide society and prevent people from addressing the real underlying issues that should unite them.

“This constant focus on bickering and chasing words prevents us from addressing the real issues, which are often common if we dig deeper,” argued Ice Cube.

Maher then asked Ice Cube to identify the people who benefit from dividing society on purpose.

“Who benefits and profits from our bickering and division?” Ice Cube rhetorically asked. “Follow the money.”

“I don’t know their names, Bill, but if you follow the money, you’ll start to see,” Ice Cube responded. He explained that while he didn’t know specific names, the same people who own record labels also have financial interests in private prisons. He suggested that there’s a suspicious correlation between the music promoted by these labels and the push towards the prison industry.

Maher seemed skeptical and said, “But they didn’t make you write those lyrics.”
