Her final Instagram post has also been making the rounds, and it tells the tale of a woman who found life “unbearable” at times but still fought to choose happiness.

Written on New Year’s Eve last year, Lee wrote, “LOVE & FAITH ~my 2 favorite words that I carry strongly in my heart which I desperately needed to get thru this incredibly difficult year.”

“Life seemed unbearable at times,” she continued, “but I adapted the attitude of a ‘female warrior’ to face them head on fearlessly but always had the biggest smile and big fat laughters!”

“Strength, courage, [and] bravery are within all of us, so use them. You will gain the most precious ‘Wisdom’ which will change your perspective on life from here onward. Be a hungry mind that constantly wants to learn [and] grow and to gain a treasure chest of wisdom.”

She shared, “My goal in 2023 is to share my life story [and] how I faced major life-changing hurdles [and] still managed to keep a positive attitude. I am happy to say I am finally living the real me. It’s the best feeling [and] I’m grateful every day to be alive [and] I get to share my thoughts with you. My dear friends… Be U n Live U! Remember there’s only 1 of you in the world, you are one of a kind.”

Lee continued, “Life can be too short, so dare to dream big! Everything in life is a choice, so choose what brings you joy [and] meaning. Say bye-bye to 2022, [and] farewell to all the s— that happened. In 2023~Live a life of good intentions, truth, have faith in what you do, SMILE [and] choose happy!!!”

“Be a winner, not a victim,” she urged her followers. “Don’t take things personally, never judge a book by its cover, do care about the suffering of others [and] try to help if you can, love our Mother Earth, be a good listener, gain wisdom, and have an abundance of love to give to others. Be the boss of your own life. Stand up for something you believe in. Be an influential figure to inspire people. And keep spreading LOVE & POSITIVITY everywhere.”

Of herself, she wrote, “I’m a female warrior baby! Just like The Great Wall of China, I will never fall. If I can overcome anything, so can you! You are not alone, no matter how hard life gets, I’m with you.”

She added the hashtags “new year,” “new beginnings,” “be strong,” “be yourself,” and “love yourself.”

Friends and fans alike flooded the comments of this post after the announcement of her death, writing things like, “We’ll carry your beautiful message and your spirit forward. Thank you for being the lamp that lights up our paths. Fly free now away from pain and suffering. Love you.”

Lee’s sisters confirmed on social media that the singer attempted suicide over the weekend and was rushed to a hospital. They said she was in a coma and died on Wednesday.

“With great sadness, we are here to break the most devastating news: CoCo had been suffering from depression for a few years but her condition deteriorated drastically over the last few months. Although CoCo sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her took the better of her,” her sisters Carol and Nancy wrote on their social media accounts.

They added that this year marks the 30th year of her singing career, saying, “in the past 29 years, she’s won countless international acclaim with top-selling songs and has left the audience with an astounding impression of her excellent live performances. CoCo is also known to have worked tirelessly to open up a new world for Chinese singers in the international music scene, and she went all out to shine for the Chinese. We are proud of her!”
